Caught the train from Roma to Napoli (Naples). Then on the Circumvesuviana train (the local train service) onto Sorrento and our bed and breakfast place, Casa Susy, in S.Agnello. Then off to Pompei. We spent the late afternoon walking through the excavations, taking in the long history, size and splendour of the town and the manner in which it was destroyed on 24 August 79AD, buried under ash and rock after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius.

After quenching our thirst with fresh lemon juice made the largest lemons we have ever seen, we made our way back to S.Agnello. A train trip, once again filled with the dramatic and highly expressive conversations amongst the locals.
